This series is about teaching the meanings of the arithmetic operations and problem solving involving those meanings (social utility problem solving - the kind most folks do in daily life).

The iBooks consist of two lesson plans designed for minds-on learning and also contain information that provides depth about the lessons. The common thread for the addition and subtraction iBooks is a Dr. Zeuss-like story. The common thread for the multiplication and division iBooks is a mystery to solve. There are no drill-and-kill activities in the lessons. There are a few brief practice activities, including some that students can do using an iPad.

A sample pdf file is available for each iBook. The sample provides a sense of what is contained in the iBook. However, the sample cannot show the animations or pop-up info contained in the iBook.
